Vaclav Masek is a Doctoral Researcher (starting October 2024) at ICTA-UAB. He is a development sociologist working on eco-social transformations in post-conflict contexts, focusing on contemporary Latin America. As part of REAL, he researches how grassroots environmental movements institutionalize their demands as policy or law by seeking alliances with left-of-center political parties and progressive administrations.
Born and raised in Guatemala City, Vaclav has an interdisciplinary background, with a Master’s in Sociology from the University of Southern California and a Master’s in Latin American and Caribbean Studies from New York University.
