Suryadeepto Nag is a doctoral researcher at UNIL. His research is at the intersection between energy and resource economics, and development economics. Within REAL, he works on estimating the inequalities in energy, material, and labor consumption across countries, and using them to envisage North-South convergence scenarios.

Suryadeepto did an integrated bachelor’s and master’s of science programme from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, and served as a visiting fellow at the Australian National University, where he researched the causal impacts of rural electrification programmes. For Suryadeepto, degrowth is the world’s only realistic solution to tackle the problems of poverty and deprivation without devastating environmental consequences for humankind.
